Recap of the Annual POA Meeting
Posted: Monday, August 1, 2011
We had a great meeting on Wednesday, July 27th at Next Door Pizza.

Over 60 people came to hear about what was going on in the neighborhood and let their voices be heard - or it might have been the free pizza.

To give a quick recap of the topics for all those that we're not able to attend.

ARB - we have an architectural review board that is in place. All homeowners must get approval to make any outside changes. Please see the website for further details. Without the ARB approval you could be subjected to a fine for any exterior changes or modifications you make.

The Playground - we have received bids for the playground and have a $25,000 budget for this. The board and contractor are ready to proceed once the weather lightens up.

Pool - Swim team - we applauded Carron Miesners efforts for coming to the board with a great idea and following through. Therefore creating a very successful swim team and a summer activity for the kids of Monarch View. Way to go Monarch View Marlins and Carron Miesner.

There was a request to extend the pool hours which the Board will be discussing at the next meeting. Currently the pool is closed at 9pm. Anyone there after 9pm is considered trespassing. To quote the president, "if its passed 9pm and you don't know where you're kids are check the pool as they probably are riding their bikes in it." So please call the police if anyone is there past 9pm.

Also if there is a sign that says pool is closed and your keys do not work the pool is closed. We only closed the pool to protect our homeowners. Please do not jump the fence to get in as there is a reason the pool is closed.

Ponds - The bridges were resurfaced and the ponds were sprayed for all the algae and grass that was occurring in the pond. With the help of the fountain keeping the pond aerated we were able to keep the oxygen levels up≠ to keep the loss of fish to a minimum.

Other business - We also reminded parents that air soft guns are not allowed in the city of Lee's Summit.

Due to a non-sponsored Monarch View facebook page the board has been forced to create a sponsored by the POA facebook page for the Monarch View residents. This page will state that it's the official page of Monarch View. This page will be used for events and updates that will also be posted on our website.

There will be a form go out with the dues notice requesting homeowners to supply ideas they would like the Board to focus on next. We will also be doing an online survey at the request of a homeowner.
