Bridge to Eagle Creek

The Home Owners Association (HOA) spoke to Steve Casey with the Lee's Summit
Parks and recreation (LSPR). Steve let us know that he does receive a phone call
from somebody in Monarch View possibly every 6 months regarding a bridge being
installed and he informs them of the information below.
Monarch View would need to connect from sidewalk to sidewalk with the greenway
that is owned by LSPR. Hunt Midwest donated this land to LSPR when they were
building; this allowed the city to pay for the sidewalks and not the Eagle Creek.
However, it also opened up that park of Eagle Creek to the public and it is now
listed as a public park.
If we want to be part of this greenway we would have to pay for it ourselves.
His estimate that would enable us to connect from our sidewalk to their sidewalk
would run between $50,000 — $65,000.
He did make a point to say that once the bridge goes up your subdivision becomes
public. That means the public could play on your playground, walk your trails
and fish in your ponds.
The problem that Eagle Creek now is facing and has complained to their home owner’s
board about is the public park. They have strangers walking and riding their
bikes on their sidewalks behind their homes.
If the Monarch View HOA goes through with this for the future it
is our responsibility/cost to maintain and insure what we install
as LSPR will not use their cost to do so. |
