Posted: Saturday, June 7, 2008
Airsoft guns are considered illegal in Lee’s Summit. Should anyone be seen carrying one of these guns through the neighborhood, please call the police! Several people have been seen carrying these guns, shooting at others, or shooting at pets.

Airsoft guns are considered an air gun and therefore fall within the category of firearms or weapons and are prohibited under Sec. 17-164 of the city ordinances. Other prohibited weapons are: crossbows, clings, wrist rocket guns, revolvers, air rifles, air guns, pellet guns, pistols, tasers, or any other firearm that is designed or adapted to expel a projectile or electrical current.

Paintball guns may be used on private property only with the permission of the land owner. All projectiles from these guns must also be contained within the property. No one under the age of 18 should discharge a paintball gun without written permission of a parent or legal guardian and no paintball gun should be discharged towards a domestic pet or a non-consenting person.

Let’s keep everybody safe!
