A Winter Warning: Do not walk on the ice!

PondIceThe ice on the Monarch View ponds has never been safe to walk on. It takes well over 4” of ice to support someone and we have never achieved enough consistent cold weather to create that kind of an ice sheet on our ponds (thank goodness). Instead we just get a series of freeze and thaw days. During the short periods of freezing weather it may look like the ponds are fully glazed but the ice is too thin to support anyone. Parents, please caution your children to stay off of the pond ice. Kids have been seen attempting to walk on the ice or throwing large rocks onto the ice to test it. The large rock-throwing attempt is not a good test either because it probably just cracks what ice there is and we will all have to ultimately pay to have those rocks replaced

If any homeowner sees any kids on the pond ice the safest best will be to call 911 particularly if they are anywhere near the middle of the pond. Something very bad could happen.
