Winter Crime Prevention Tip
Posted: Thursday, November 8, 2007
With the coming of winter and cold weather people will often warm up their vehicles
on frosty or icy mornings. While the Lee's Summit Police Department can not advocate
leaving a running vehicle unattended we do understand it is a common practice
during winter months. The Department would like to remind everyone if they choose
to leave their vehicle unattended while running to please have a spare set of
keys so they may lock the vehicle to help prevent it from being stolen. Even
when locked, vehicle owners also need to understand their vehicle is still an
easy target simply by breaking a window. As the Department would like to prevent
motor vehicle thefts altogether a little prior planning on the vehicle owner’s
part may prevent them from becoming a victim of crime.
