July 28th Annual Monarch View POA Meeting Recap Posted: Friday, August 27, 2010 Thanks to all who attended the meeting, below is a short recap of what was discussed:
A new Monarch View Architectural Review Committee (MVARC) form was discussed. It is currently in the beginning stages. In the future, the form will be able to be filled out and submitted online.
Reviewed the 2010 Budget, a few questions centered on the amount of money the board has saved and what the target figure is. Currently the Board is targeting having one year worth of operating budget in savings.
2011 dues were discussed. Currently the plan is for the dues to increase from $396 to $420. This will be voted on later this year.
Playground equipment was another topic of discussion. Installing newequipment is high on the priority list for the board. This year, an attempt to start phase one fell short due to funding. Commercial playground equipment is expensive and the money that was set aside for this year will be rolled over into next year. Volunteers that would like to help with the process are encouraged to contact the President.
Carron Miesner discussed having a Monarch View swim team. This discussion received a lot of positive feedback. The board voted after the meeting and the swim team has been authorized for the 2011 season.
The homeowners voted to give board members a 50% discount on dues to attract people to join the board. The vote passed 23 Yes, 3 No. (Is this the correct number)
Chris Bleyenberg left the Board after two years of wonderful service. During Chris' tenure she was involved in fixing a leak which led to a large amount of water savings; she oversaw the installation of the new tile border, a surveillance system as well as a new card system and gate. This is just a few of the many things that Chris accomplished over her two year stint. Margaret Helm also left the board after doing 2 years of great service as the co-treasurer. Thank you very much for doing such a nice job for your neighbors and your community.
There are two new additions to the 2010-2011 MVPOA Board. Matt Batliner graciously volunteered to be the Pool Director and Jill Mueller volunteered to serve as the Vice President. Many thanks go out to these two for volunteering to serve on the Board.

Thefts From Vehicles Posted: Tuesday, August 14, 2010 The lees summit police asked us to forward these suggestions on to all homeowners. Also please review the crime report for Monarch View that has been added to the left side of our web site.
Recent reports from our Patrol shift (the officers on the front lines) have indicated a continuing issue with thefts from vehicles. Thefts generally increase during warm weather months when pedestrian traffic is high, especially during the overnight hours.
Please follow and distribute these safety tips:
Remove valuables from your vehicle and lock the doors/roll up windows (GPS Units, iPods, laptops, etc are "hot items" right now).
Don't leave vehicles running unattended.
Park in your garage, if possible. Otherwise, park in a well-lit area.
Leave exterior lights on at your house/apartment after dark (especially lights over the driveway).
Call 911 when you hear or see suspicious activity.
